I am interested in labor history and given the prevalence of steel mills in Pittsburgh I am interested to learn how organized labor grew in the city and what actions it took to try and improve conditions for itself. I would also like to learn about the pollution of the city and if there were any serious or successful attempts to deal with the pollution and clean up the city. Along these lines, I would also like to see if the pollution in the city center caused an early growth of so called &#8220;streetcar suburbs&#8221; in the late 1800&#8217;s.
